That was until I tried to install obs on my friend laptop to allow her to record lectures (base model with Big Sur). So i assumed it was normal for a mac to be slow. but that's another story and for now I did not touch it. I've attributed to extreme thermal throttling (CPU drops to 0.9GHz and GPU to 300MHz) and ordered some thermal pads, aluminum bars, copper shims to try and mod the cooling system. More specifically on a mid 2015 macbook pro with discrete graphic (Catalina) it has in the past months been a slideshow. I am however unable to find settings to smoothly record on macs.

I've been using it on anything from super old laptops to workstations and ever raspberry Pis with great satisfaction to the point where it has become my default choice even when i just need a compressor on my microphone.
